The India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded Mumbai to a red alert from orange as heavy rains lash the city. The financial capital of India witnessed its wettest July on Wednesday, the BMC and IMD said. Schools and colleges are closed and Thursday exams for the University of Mumbai have also been postponed.
